Parents often feel anything but confident. They know they are shaping lives, but feel they are only learning as they go. They also know the Bible is supposed to guide them, but feel uncertain how a handful of verses help them with this years-long task. The temptation is to be intimidated by both the importance and the complexity of the task.

Our 2016 Counsel the Word Conference will address how guiding children wisely in a turbulent world requires confidence. This confidence is not ultimately in the parents’ own abilities, but in the God whose ancient wisdom keeps us grounded for the challenges of modern life.

Sowing and Reaping: Using Consequences to Underscore Biblical Truth

Margy Tripp

The sowing and reaping principle of the Bible is stated in Galatians 6. It will enable parents to to shape consequences for our kids as a way not to manipulate behavior, but as a way of underscoring the enduring truth of God’s Word.

The Family Devotions That Never Stop: How Your Marriage is Always Teaching Your Children What You Think About the Gospel Applied to Life

Eric Bancroft

As parents, we often wonder if there is another book we should read to our children, sermon to discuss with them, or sibling fight we need to mediate. Yet we can often miss the fact that we are already teaching them through the marriage we are in living in before them. Come and learn from Eric Bancroft as he teaches you how your marriage is not only a gift to you and your spouse, but also your children as you teach them of the grace found in Jesus Christ.
